Glad you like it, but as with so many things, the design wasn't an
idea
completely out of the blue, but was instead heavily inspired by
prior art.
BeOS already had the lighting up icons, then I think ZETA added the
round
corner frames. I arrived at the final version with it's dead center
logo
after messing around a bit with more complicated layouts. Somehow the
centered logo gives the strongest impression.
Yes, I see the legacy of the original 4.5 and 5.0 screens in there -
which is nice really as it's kind of keeping with tradition while
still looking modern and up-to-date. Haven't seen the Zeta one.
Looks good! If there's ever a 'shall we replace the boot screen'
thread/poll put me down for a -1 ;-)
