We just have to be picky. Use what is applicable.
We may be better of talking with Syllable etc and forming a broader coalition.
e.g.
Portland has some good ideas like the xdg_open script
http://portland.freedesktop.org/xdg-utils-1.0/xdg-open.html
xdg-open 'http://www.freedesktop.org/'
Opens the Freedesktop.org website in the user's default browser
xdg-open /tmp/foobar.png
Opens the PNG image file /tmp/foobar.png in the user's default image
viewing application.
It's a sh script. I wanted to port it but I don't know sh.
I'm not sure what use this would have in haiku, since doing a "open
/tmp/foobar.png" achieves the same result.
