[openbeos] Re: Expander's behaviour (was: unrar)

Hello,

I'm just a Lurker but....
To have a file and directory lsting available if ones wants it (just files
and dirs) it should be available (like BeOS R5 Expander did)
I personally sometime want to know if the zip contains its own directory
with the files in it so when I unpack ik it will automatically create a
folder for its contents (right?), when you can't see that it has/has not
have its own dir, it could give a mess at the place things are unpacked to.
(am I making myself understood or do I have to make ik more clear?)

Greets, Rob

PS: keep up the good work!!!

I vote for verbose listing off and no option to turn it on. Expander should
be the tool to "get the job done" and to have clean out of the box archive
support in the OS, if anything more complicated is needed, there are other
tools out there. Can you come up with a usage scenario, where a user would
like to view the permissions of each file? And there is also an argument
about having the listing be consitent across different types of archives
(zip, lha, ...). I don't see a good reason to display some info in one case,
and not in the other.

Best regards,
-Stephan
