The same problem, or no response at all?
It might be worth leaving the secondary DNS field blank too, in case
it's using that one in some unexpected way...

Try 195.112.4.4 -- that's the DNS I'm currently using.

Are there any other machines on the same network sending DNS
requests at the same time, possibly allowing net_server to see
those packets? Any IP conflicts, or unusual subnet mask settings?

Another possibility -- what network card are you using?
The reason I ask is because I've seen some really strange things
happen with net_server and certain network cards. The only ones I've
had particularly good luck with have been the Novell NE2000,
Realtek 8029 and Realtek 8139.
I don't really see how that could cause stale IPs to be returned,
but I have seen dropped and corrupted UDP packets before, so maybe
it could be related to corruption...
