You downloaded it to your BeOS partition? You should be able to just
double click on it and have the SoftwareValet application (which
handles pkgs) do the rest. From there it's just open a terminal and ssh
to whatever IP your linux machine is. You can put a standard UNIX hosts
file in /boot/beos/etc/ if you want.
