If we mainly just talking about formats and exporting here
I would vote for changing the source to Open office writer.

3. Open office writer can export documents as:
       html
       xhtml
       pdf
       BibTeX
       LaTeX 2e
       MediaWiki

I don't know how well OO is exporting to these formats, but generally I doubt it's all that automatedly easy. In my experience exporting always sucks. In degrees, of course.

In any case, changing our documentation to OO while it's not available on Haiku doesn't make sense in my opinion. The suggestion of OO instead of Gobe was only a last resort if existing PDF docs have to be kept as a means to be able to edit them in the future.

Humdinger
