I'd also like to point out the old BeGroovy magazine. Semi-monthly
(like this newsletter), then monthly, then it went away. And there
were deadlines there too, just no specific group of people to ask for
articles. We had a couple of regular writers for certain columns, but
they eventually lost interest and faded out.
At first, there was no shortage of articles, then as the "energy"
started to wear, it became just 3 of us writing every article (9
columns/articles to fill). We couldn't do that ourselves for long, so
after the new site was built, we just didn't do the magazine anymore.
Without everyone's help, the same will happen here. I've said it
before, if _every_ person on this list thinks of an article to write,
and works a little on it every week, we will be in good shape. Some
articles won't take as long as others, so there will become a point
where the articles just keep a rollin' in. :)
So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to spend the next
week thinking of a topic for a newsletter article. The neo-programmers
out there could do something about learning to program some aspect of
C++/API, the more experienced can write the indepth programming
articles, and the non-programmer types out there, well, there are other
things to write about, marketing OBOS, reviews, glass elevator topics,
an occassional (and I'd like to stress _occassional_) guest editoral.
After you've decided on your topic, email me to find out if
it's "okay". Then spend an hour or 2 a week working it to completion.
There are some 300 people on this list, even if only half write
articles, we have enough for a year's worth of newsletters. :)
This message will self destruct in 30 seconds. ;)
