[openbeos] Re: Afternoon, all

Hi Michael, all:
>I have a thought that I would like to float. How many of us would be
willing to support Palm, ASSUMING that they wanted to continue BeOS
support, by forgoing our dreams of a fresh, new, completely open source
BeOS, instead, maybe, working on some piece of BeOS that was open
sourced like OT/OD? This is not something that they have suggested, but

not sure.. not having the kernel would mean still
the number-one (probably) issue of not being able to run
BeOS on some mother boards, chipsets, CPUs ..Etc

Or maybe what you suggested, but /in addition/ of having
the promise that those kernel updates will be done
by Be^H^HPalm engineers and officially released
at regular intervals.. you see where I'm going :-), that's
quite a few involved conditions...

>Also - I have a number of the short profiles that I have asked everyone
for, but I am still missing some.

i didn't submit mine because I'm already involved in the
closed-soruce rewrite that was mentionned yesterday, so
i'm afraid i'm here in lurking mode only...

>Basically what I want is a name, area of interest (or none) and (short)
qualifications. Just a little something where I can start to group
people with like interests together.
>

thoug I'd say that I have next-to-none low-level coding
experience (in kernel address space) so I'll probably
work on The Kits only, in whatever working group I eventually land into
(blueos it seems very much).

I was amazed at the reaction of thhe community too,
being not the least criticising the whining and moaning
of discussion forums, it turned out eventually ther e_are_
productive people believeing in something, they're just
less vocal!

Lessons leanred and all that.
