Wow!
We're building up to our biggest spring BeGeistert ever and if things carry
on like this it might even be the biggest BeGeistert ever. It's really
great to see the active BeOS community growing!
We've confirmed all reservations with the Youth Hostel and this means the
preferential rate of Euro 20,70 a night for bed and breakfast. There are
still places available and we've made an arrangement with the Youth Hostel
for additional stays at this preferential rate. However, since the deadline
has passed we cannot guarantee this. Otherwise you can reserve with the
Youth Hostel directly, tel: +49-211-557310.
While BeGeistert 010 ends on the Sunday afternoon a couple of people are
already planning to stay the Sunday night. We've extended the registration
form to reflect this. If you've already registered and would like to stay
the additional night let us know as soon as possible so we can clear this
with the Youth Hostel.
----------
BeGeistert 010 really is looking like being a bit special: Sergei "fyysik"
Dolgov has promised to do some work on Mozilla while he's over and in
addition to several OpenBeOS developers we're looking forward to seeing
Frans van Nispen of Xentronix (Refraction, Sample Studio) and the new
operating system "Sequel". Bernd Korz will be there to present Zeta and
Oliver Kohl will be showing "Fontboy". We always welcome additional
contributions: pass your knowledge on.
BeGeistert is getting more and more international with Daniel "DaaT"
Texeira coming from Portugal to join BeOS Journal colleague Chris Simmons.
Christian Celona and Giuseppe Gargargo of the Italian BUG and they're
planning their own "BeGeistert on Tour - Marco Polo" in Padua as part of
webb.it from 9th to 11th May. More details on
http://space.tin.it/computer/sfgargar/articolo39.html
We've put Chris' audio tour and inteviews from BeGeistert 009 online and
while the server is unlikely to get pulled because of bandwidth use we'd
very much appreciate it if these could be "shared" or mirrored.

Chris has promised more interviews and even video this time for all those
who can't make it. Please note: we won't have any kind of internet
connection at 010 so don't expect a webcam or any kind of "live" reports,
make a note to come to the next BeGeistert instead!
A couple of important notes:
****************************
we've got the carpooling system up and running!
bringing in food and drink onto the premises is not be allowed. As this is
part of the conditions of the rent we will have to make sure this is the
case;
we are still negotiating with the Youth Hostel about being able to have a
crate or two of beer in the evening so watch this space;
we won't know where people are sleeping until about a week before the
event. If we're lucky and we're the only ones in that part of the building
it will BeGeistert as usual but in any case we have to respect the general
"lights out" at 22:00 and keep the volume down.
For all those planning to come but who don't intend to stay overnight:
**********************************************************************
you still need to register before 10th April because a midday meal is
compulsory for all those attending. This means that we basically won't be
able to let people in who haven't registered as it wouldn't be fair on the
others and we don't want any problems with the Youth Hostel.
After having BeGeistert in the same place eight times we're kind of used
to things but we're hoping that BeGeistert 010 will be the start of
something just as good.
