In case anyone here is shopping for a new system
the P4/Celeron 2GHz doesn't have any timing issues 
that I'm aware of. It's fast, cheap and cooler than
a true P4. With a good temp-regulated fan and other
silent / fanless components you get virtual silence.
(ask me for specifics)

It probably won't perform as well in Doom III though, 
but you're just into BeOS/Haiku anyway, right? ;)
