IMO what is needed for a WebKit-port is a dedicated team-leader who can
plan, supervise, and market the project.

I would volunteer for that, but I'm afraid I'm already spread too thin
and I would be worried about not meeting expectations. I do want to at
least do some initial research into the port. Maybe that will lead to
me feeling confident to take on this role. At this point it is too
vague and I've been bitten before in trying to take on overwhelming
projects!

Plus I have another pet project I really want to work on too.

Maybe we should even create a
browser-team under the Haiku project, which handles not one browser but
all efforts. The code doesn't have to be managed in Haiku's svn, just
the team and it's status/roadmap.

Maybe. There definitely needs to be some better organization in this
area. I'm sure you Bezilla guys have done some work which would be
generally useful for any BeOS browser. Since WebKit is pretty much
just the rendering engine, there is plenty of other browser code that
will be needed. It would be smart to combine efforts here.

It might be wishful thinking, but it would be great to have one
browser than can use any of the available rendering engines (Gecko and
WebKit to start, who knows in the future.)
