About the memory thing (also re: charlie), the memory issue is
explicitly only in Trac 0.11, and not in the version we are currently
running on our servers.

Here too. About Trac's speed: for the purpose of the tool, the speed
isn't an extremely crucial factor. Nevertheless, the long waits we
encountered are unnecessary.

The repo sync is running every 30 minutes. I do not know if there is a
backup job around that time. It might just be that it coincides with
peak server usage.
