[haiku-web] Re: The state of Trac (was: Re: Website Maintainer)

I remember how the move to Trac was pushed a bit forcefully (if I may use the word to make a point). Several of the admins/devs were not very convinced that it was necessary to migrate, but it happened anyway thanks to the "enthusiasm" of one individual.

I was hoping we could keep our personal antipathy out of this. Oh well. Suffice it to say: you mean me. Well, that isn't quite the truth and it's history anyway. Waldemar asked me to take over maintenance of the bug tracker after both he and Mikael Jansson had left the project.

Now it turns out that the feature that is triggering a move to leave Trac behind is one that the system that Trac replaced (Bugzilla) did have. Ironies aside, I just think that you need a stronger justification to put the project through another bug system migration, with all the impact that this can have on the users.

Seeing as my suggestion is to look at a different system because of the feature requests from a developer with interested parties at the next BeGeistert and I'm hoping Niels will be able to make the relatively short trip to join in I don't find the suggestion unilateralism particularly relevant. It may all come to nothing and we stick with our hacked version of Trac.
