Thanks for that!

some basic documentation, guides how to fill out a great bug and some
checklists. Making it easy to file bugs should be a priority
for an alpha so any ideas on how to simplify that are welcome. I can
do the gathering and write some guides but I'll need to know
how to proceed and what the focus should be on.

As Dennis said, I began a user guide at Haikuware's wiki. For some time now that and much more is in the repo under haiku/docs/welcome and haiku/docs/userguide. Have a look, the user guide has come quite far. I plan to document some applications in the coming month. So I think we're covered for the alpha in that department. Even so, if you find things to add or improve, go right ahead. :)

Maybe you can improve the welcome package. Especially the description of good bug reporting could be enhanced.

Both welcome package and user guide are right now in the image and come pre-installed. I do agree with you though, that they should be available online as well in what you named "alpha center". Instructions how Haiku can be build/installed should definitely be there too. However, I don't know if it should be part of the user guide. After all, it's a guide how to use the system, not how to get it installed.

So, +1 for an alpha center.

Hopefully I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here but these are things
to consider, especially since we're nearing an alpha release.

On the contrary, you're initiative is very much appreciated!

Humdinger
