Now that there's a few additional contributors to the website,
I'm wondering what the general rule of thumb is when Haiku-related
news occurs.
Roughly, what determines if something is appropriate for a front-page
article or better suited at a 3rd party news site?
This is a great question Matt.
Would it be ok to post news of 3rd party software/applications on the
site or should we stick to news strictly related to Haiku events and OS
specific news? is the sort of things I would like to know.
IMHO, if we have enough "major" or let's say "general" news, we
shouldn't promote more personal news like blog entries about progress to
the front page. However, if general news are slow, then we may want to
do so anyway in order to keep the front page more alive. If the news
aren't totally personal and non-interesting for the crowd, that is.
Since each news is going to be slightly different, I guess it will
depend a lot on personal judgment and taste of the maintainers.
