translate to the real world and, I would add, and how they relate

Statements which apply uniformly to many things aren't nessicarily
"broad generalizations". The concepts of visual and informational
heirarchy in design aren't generalizations, but they do apply to
everything. As far as the current priorities of Haiku — I can only
speak to them as far as I understand them, but I think
Haiku's priorities lie in:
I was referring to the priorities of the very few people that seem to
have the time and/or inclination to actually work for Haiku on this sort
of stuff. My apologies if that was not obvious.
the cultivation of a strong developer and creative community to work
towards an initial release AND the creation of momentum towards that
end among developers and otherwise. The interested public are
important components web communities like those of Fedora. People can
bring something to the table besides code.
Most of us know the theory. But all the theory of the world means
nothing if you cannot convert that into actual action, and that's where
I think you will hit a wall (we are not Red Hat funded Fedora). I would
love to be wrong on this; nothing would make me happier! :)
As far as whether or not every member of the community from every
background needs to approve of a specific design — that's another
conversation entirely.
It was more in a figurative sense; nobody expects you to have ever
community member approve a design. Let me rephrase it for you: if you
come up with a design that is really impressive and you can actually
implement it, then it will (most probably) be adopted without major
resistance.
Cheers,
Koki
