[haiku-web] Re: CSS notice boxes challenge

I just tested the CSS3 approach, and FF2 renders the boxes properly with rounded corners, but IE (up to 7.0) and Opera (9.5) don't. I do like this clean approach very much, so this is probably what I will try to use.

You're right - Opera doesn't support border-radius yet. :-( This might be to do with the fact that -mozilla-border-radius and -webkit-border- radius work that the standard hasn't been finalised yet.

There is a reasonable workaround using SVG backgrounds as described here: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/new-development-techniques-using-opera-k/ - you'd need a minimally different SVG for each colour scheme.

But despite Opera's breathtaking SVG support, I'd be tempted to go along with Austin's suggestion of gently rounded corners that get rendered properly by FF, Konqueror and Carpetbomber but don't look bad in other browsers. I can't imagine it taking long for Opera to support. According to http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/ie8whitepapers/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=568 Microsoft have set the bar at CSS 2.1 but I can see them adding support as well if only to aid their own webmaster because of their heavy use of tabs with rounded corners.
