The remote script (rotate_backups.sh, IIRC) aims at keeping the last 30 or so days and additionally renames the one from the first of each month in order to keep that, too.
I haven't checked what exactly went wrong on April 1st, but I assume that the backup script didn't get through at that day, causing the above message for the next 30 days.
