Hello, I've checked out your restructuring, and it looks good. My next steps:
Including USB install in the RAW page (I think different sections might apply,
at least
for the windows install?)
I agree.
The reason I separated these docs is because I wanted a clean
and easy section for beginners. USB installing is the easiest method to install
haiku
right now, so I thought beginners could get lost when mixing up both methods (to
partition or usb).
I understand, but essentially it's the same thing: dd'ing a raw image to a drive (which is
either a complete USB drive or only one specific partition).
So how do you see it... different sections on the same page, or a
USB/Partition section for unixes and a different section for windows? I'm
thinking,
maybe I'll split it up like so:
- Flatten to partition (HD or USB) on Unix
- Flatten to partition (HD or USB) on Windows
- Copying to partition (BeOS and Haiku)
- Making bootable (if flattened to HD partition)
- Configuring GRUB will be linked to the new section in the Source stuff.
OK, so in installation.html under "Installing from a downloaded RAW image" we'd have links
to separate documents for
(1) ...from Windows
(2) ...from Linux
(3) ...from BeOS/Haiku (which is your "Copying to partition (BeOS and Haiku)")
(4) Making bootable (also link to that from docs (1),(2),(3)
Now for the GRUB, Exchanging files to and from Haiku, and the UserBuildConfig.
All
these will eventually go on a separate topic, and all we'll have to do is link
the
correct documents to there.
Exactly.
There are many ways of setting UserBuildConfig, so more
than one way could be talked about (Quick and easy, Profiles etc).
I don't think that is really necessary. Right now, in install-source-linux.html under
"Customizing UserBuildConfig" steps 1-3 is the quick&easy and step 4 would be the
"advanced" config. So maybe a small clarification, that step 4 is optional may be enough.
Personally, I think the profiles are really what makes the UserBuildConfig
interesting.
It may even be interesting to give even more complete examples in a subsection of
"Customizing UserBuildConfig", since it will have it's own page anyway.
See stippi's posting for inspiration:

Btw, there is a doc
that covers transferring files in the bfs_shell like in your Linux from source
guide
(the one you translated. Who is the author BTW?
After I described working with the bfs_shell, I saw that Pieter Panman already
did the same:
http://www.haiku-os.org/documents/dev/copying_files_from_and_to_haiku_from_within_linux_using_bfs_shell
Maybe you find things there to add.
Well I hope I'm helping you out. Since you seem to have been doing much, I'll
try to
releive you from a bit of work.
And I thank you for it. Very much appreciated. :)
Regards,
Humdinger
