All it's about is being able to build a version of an app from Haiku's repository such that it would still run on R5. I don't see any reason for that to matter, especially since it severely reduces what we can do to improve said apps with no real gain to make up for it.
Thats why I said "rather extended version of compatibility"I tend to take things to extremes. If there's absolutely no reason to keep this build compatibility, then it would make sense to remove it. It just seemed to me it was being removed for the sake of removing it.
