I now paid more attention, and when my GMX account (also using SSL)
fetches its mail, download speed is good/normal. So, what's the diff?
My GMX in-folder counts 2414 mails, my GMail in-folder has 5838.
Not that different... Can that be it?
Nope, for testing I created a new folder and set it as GMail in-folder,
sent myself 5 short mails and dowload speeds were just as dog slow.
Almost no disk or CPU activity BTW.

Hmmm... what's special with GMail...? BGA, you work for that outfit.
Investigate. :)

Humdinger
