Debating about another person capabilities publicly is not the best way to go.
Why not? If you have valid concerns, it should be possible to communicate them in a reasonable way. If the candidate can't deal with it, he/she is not someone we want anyway.
I guess what Ingo means is that developing a thick skin is one of the requirements to participating in an open source project.
