yeah but that just makes things more abstract and not so intuitive.  It
would be a different story if Haiku  offered total keyboard shortcut control
but all this trouble for just 3 keys?

Better to just say "alt is what we use, it is consistent and more
ergodynamic and  you'll get used to it."
