First the schedule is as follows: Tuesday September 1st 12:00 GMT: - Feature freeze/branch point Wednesday September 9th 12:00 GMT: - Branch point/branch closure Saturday September 12th, 12:00 GMT: - Distribute image to mirrors, prepare release notes, press releases, etc. Given the lack of an alternative I would like to put this one up for a vote, so please approve (+1) or reject (-1) it. Second issue on the ballot is that there are two ways to handle this release in subversion. (A) The initial proposal assumes that on September 1st, the trunk will be closed for feature checkins, so only bug reports can go in. The rationale is that this could stimulate devs to spend one week polishing the alpha (yes, very little polish, but it is an alpha). The other proposal (B) is to have a branch point on September 1st, where alpha one will live in its own branch. The release coordinator/build maker will pull in any bug fixes that might be nice to have in the alpha. The trunk will remain open for any checkins the devs want. Please cast your vote on either A or B. Voting open until Saturday 12:00 GMT (?). N.
