This is just about where the Trash folder is located on disk. The
problem is that you still want to show it visually on the Desktop, but
if the folder itself is actually at the root of the disk, you want to
hide it when browsing the disk root since otherwise it'd be confusing
since you'd see it in two places at once.

No, it would still show the contents of all volumes, the only
difference is where it's located on each volume (right now it's at
/Volume/home/Desktop/Trash which is annoying since it means every
single disk has to have home/Desktop on it just to contain its Trash
folder).

That actually wouldn't be that hard, is there already an enhancement
ticket for it?
