Doesn't seem to work either.  (I just moved it there and recreated
the mime_db entry.)

I didn't touch the mime_db. Maybe your "Enable notfications" setting
in the Notification prefs is off?

service x-vnd.Haiku-notification_server {
  launch /system/servers/notification_server
  no_safemode
  on_demand
}

It doesn't happen anyway.  Where is that snippet found?

That's /boot/system/data/launch/system.

But as Axel pointed out, it's behaving as planned.
For security reasons? Launching by signature would start any old app
with that sig. OTOH, if you can make the users blacklist the server,
you can get them execute your trojan directly too...

Humdinger
