Indeed. We should try to collect these ideas somewhere to point to for
newer developers (though they all aren't necessarily trivial.)

The only drawback I see for combining some of these preferences
together is potentially losing some of Stephan's nice icons. But at
least for the proposed "Input Devices" preference (which I think is a
great idea, especially unique settings per device), each device could
use a vector icon along with a name. This is similar to Philippes'
prototype network preferences that was brought back from the past
recently. In fact maybe they could share some code.
