Rather than completely reinvent hardware preferences, how about integrating Keyboards, Mice and other pointing devices into "Type Touch & Click" This gets around the hairy problem of where to draw the line by giving a functional description of what you're configuring instead of trying to name all the devices that might possibly be covered by the preflet in the future.
