Haiku Inc, sell one 100% Haiku hardware compatible laptop and desktop - plus
some unique software (i,e an IM app with webcam support). Use the profit to
fund your hardware purchasing program and developers to write new
drivers/features. I think it'll be pretty difficult to support all older
hardware and newer hardware as it comes out. Perhaps concentrating on single
machines would be a better idea for now. The concept has already been
demonstrated to work by Apple.

i.e, I'd buy a Haiku netbook that had all hardware working and was branded
and sold by Haiku knowing I'm supporting Haiku. If Haiku doesn't do this,
someone else likely will.

I'm not saying that Haiku should drop support for all the hardware they
currently support. I think if all the developers agreed to develop/buy (get
donated) the same piece of laptop or desktop, they could concentrate and
focus on fixing the core operating system and not keep adding support for
x,y,z hardware or debugging why a,b,c works on Axel's laptop but doesn't
work on Stephan's; it's like an endless loop.

Once there's a stable operating system, then people can worry about adding
support for other hardware. You see this at BeBits. There are lots of
developers outside of Be Inc. that contributed drivers for their own
hardware. That's because there was an R5, it was stable, and it had
features.
