I don't think you need to repeat the name of the selected device in
the group box on the right, by the way.
One thing Apple does differently, is that the list of wireless access
points is just a drop down menu in the panel for the AirPort device. I
didn't find an image online, but it's similar to the one in the menu
bar:

A potential issue with the separate list of access points; when you
click Connect on one of them, which of your wireless cards does the
operation apply to?
