+1.  I like that look a lot.

Thats a good point on using different icons to represent physical
hardware and virtual access points. Things still would be a mess though
when you have multiple wireless cards. (unlikely but easily possible)

I still am leaning towards the option of having the physical cards
within the first window and configuring the access point in the
configuration dialog for each interface using Axel's awesome RadioView.
(it's also easier that way... esp with multiple network profiles)
