Haiku is Nirvana.
OK, I'll be the first to admit that my Haiku poetry sucks. But with an OS
whose name inspires poetry about nature, peace and beauty (ie. it gives you
a human emotional feel), why do you need a cheap fluffy mascot or drawing,
when you can be elegant and sophisticated with verse? The new age
marketting push would be to distribute Haiku poetry everywhere, and the
moment people see Haiku poetry, they'll think of Haiku OS. We are
sophisticated intelligent and emotional beings, so lets leverage our passion
into something which truely inspires an emotional response, ie. verse. It
sure this would be a more sophisticated marketting approach vs using a
simple logo / mascot like Tux or Daemon. IMHO, even though people can
immediately recognise an image, adults are more inclined to pursue something
which inspires the human soul.
Personally, I'm -1 for mascots.
