What do you mean it doesn't play them one after the other? Do you mean
gap-less playback? That should actually be implemented in MediaPlayer.

Yep. As David pointed out some time ago, having VLC on the image means
MediaPlayer is getting less exposure and there is less pressure to fix
things.
