My ThinkPad Z60m has that knobbly thing too, called a TrackPoint, though I don't really use it myself (I use the touch pad.) I think most ThinkPads include it as a distinguishing feature (and many of the ThinkPad faithful may prefer it over the touch pad.) I am not sure how it is exposed to the operating system, maybe just as a PS/2 or USB mouse. So anyhow there could be potentially a lot of mouse input devices on one machine. I have three when I plug in a USB mouse on this ThinkPad. In general I think the separate settings for each device are a good idea. -- Regards, Ryan
