The biggest disadvantage for development right now is that it isn't
BeOS compatible anymore, so your driver would not work anymore under
BeOS (if that's a requirement). Once Haiku is actually better usable
for driver development and every-day use, this shouldn't be much of a
concern, though.
I read the above document, and it does look like a work in progress.
Thus, I decided to leave the S3 video driver as is for now. Maybe after
you convert the intel_extreme driver to the new driver architecture,
I'll convert the S3 driver to the new architecture using the
intel_extreme driver as an example for how to do it.
