Aesthetically-speaking, I think the window with the icon looks a lot
better than the ones without. And even some applications for R5, like
SoundPlay, implemented that for exactly the same reasons we are
discussing here.
I actually changed the SoundPlay icon to look less annoying... :-)
Maybe it would look less bad if the icon would be smoothed and
recoloured so that it better fits to the UI colors (like greying it
out).
I am *PERFECTLY* fine with that. I am just a screen real-state freak. :)
Anyway, when we try to change our interface in a way like this, I would
suggest to add a shared API for creating that menu so that one can
easily try "Application" first, and be able to easily toggle between
the two.
But as I said, if you'll find the time to work on Haiku, there are more
pressing issues. Just try and see :-)
I actually havea completelly useless change to commit. That probably
shows you what I thinjk about all this. ;)
I agree that there are more important stuff to work on but, again,
this
is a volunteer-based project. If someone wants to go and make the
change, it is up to this person how he/she uses their time.
Sure, but without any focus at all, we'll never get any release out of
the door which won't help anyone.
So, how about calling a feature freeze and just mark a list of
bugs/features that simply must be fixed/implemented for the alpha and
just go with that?
