I actually changed the SoundPlay icon to look less annoying... :-) Maybe it would look less bad if the icon would be smoothed and recoloured so that it better fits to the UI colors (like greying it out). Anyway, when we try to change our interface in a way like this, I would suggest to add a shared API for creating that menu so that one can easily try "Application" first, and be able to easily toggle between the two. But as I said, if you'll find the time to work on Haiku, there are more pressing issues.
