The following search shows that there are 6,679 web pages that point
at http://www.be.com/

Imagine if we could convince the webmasters of all those sites to
update their links to point at http://www.haiku-os.org/ Our PageRank
would skyrocket.
Even better - but I'm sure far beyond our reach - would be to raise
the money to purchase the domain from the domain speculator who owns
it now. We could then place a redirect to haiku-os.org, and get all
that PageRank without anyone else having to update anything.
(That 6,679 figure includes only links to the homepage. Imagine how
many more links there are to pages within Be's old website.)
