I only use gcc 4 builds (have to because I use a 64 bit OS) so I can't
compare to gcc 2, but I haven't noticed any instabilities that I
associated with using gcc 4 at least. It doesn't crash after a couple
of minutes as you say, but can be left for hours without problems.
