[haiku-development] Re: GCC 2 x GCC 4

The following contains opinion and code dependencies; there is no point arguing.

I would like to see both the GCC4 libraries and compiler included on the DR1.
But I'm not going to sulk if they are not.

I have been waiting for the Alpha before I worked on a Haiku port of Clue. The
binary and old headers should still work http://www.bebits.com/app/1239. Now
the 2.x code will have to be re-targeted from zeta to Haiku but that shouldn't
be much trouble. http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=101267.

And it is a useful development tool so it would be good to see it included in
the alpha.

However, I can see no point in writing new code for an out of date compiler
that didn't fully support the STL. Doesn't have varargs for macros (which I
need). Or my tr1 favourite shared_ptr/weak_ptr.

Clue 3 however will be using vararg macros. So clients wont be able to compile
on Haiku until the GCC4 compiler is included.
