Colin,
Glad to hear you're interested in Haiku. Like François said, give Haiku a
try and one of the easiest ways to do that is with VirtualBox (or some
other VM client) if you're not wanting to install it on computer hardware
directly. It runs really well on VB from my years of experience with it.
