partially hidden window into view wonderfully convenient. With the proposed
change you would potentially have to click the window to the front first,
then move it (with additional care, since you no longer see what is hidden)
and click it to the back again (or worse: other windows to the front).

points out. Having to pause a moment to look first that the right operation
is going to happen is one thing I don't like that much about the current
resize implementation either. But I didn't like the possible alternatives
(like resizing the border in whose direction the mouse is moved initially)
any better.

I too am partial to the current behavior. (I simply did not have anything
productive to add beside a "me too"). Repurposing the window border for
resizing would be a loss of functionality with little gain.

The CTRL+ALT functionality has always seemed to be designed as a more of an
advanced use case than something intuitive for beginners. IMO, this is
fine, as it is alternative (and more convenient) method of window
management. Beginners will still have the more intuitive (by being a more
traditional means) titlebar and resize corner.

Once a user gets past the learning curve of the CTRL ALT functionality, the
ease of use for window management is simply wonderful.

But yes, the current color of the resize border is less than attractive.
