[haiku-development] Come see Haiku at LinuxWorld Expo 2008 booth #1617

(cross-posting this on the developer list as well)

We're proud to announce that Haiku will be in booth #1617 at this
year's LinuxWorld Expo 2008. The event takes place August 5 - 7 at the
Moscone Center in San Francisco. Here is a floorplan image showing our
location on the floor:

It took a bit of effort and patience this year, since we were turned
down again for the precious and limited quantity .Org pavilion spaces.
IDG (the organizers of LinuxWorld) were generous enough to extend us a
deal on a regular exhibit space and we've teamed up with some people
from ReactOS to share a booth with them.

LinuxWorld is a well known event that caters to professional and
commercial Linux and open source enthusiasts and organizations.
LinuxWorld attendance usually averages over 10,000 people. Other
exhibitors will include big names such as IBM, Oracle, Cisco, ACCESS,
Palm, as well as open source projects such as Fedora, FreeBSD, Drupal,
Gentoo, and others.

Haiku has previously participated in SCaLE and other international
conferences worldwide with warm reception. We anticipate that our
presence at LinuxWorld will be an excellent opportunity for Haiku with
great potential for high-profile exposure.

We intend to demonstrate Haiku running on several computers natively,
utilizing a projector and screen for one of them. We will also be
handing out fliers to the patrons at the event and collecting
donations for Haiku, Inc.

If you're planning to attend LinuxWorld, please use the priority code:
VPL56 in order to obtain a free exhibit hall pass ($50 value), access
to Birds of a Feather sessions, as well as 20% off conference programs
and more. Please download the following flyer (850kb PDF) for more
details:

Finally, we need your help at the Haiku booth. If you have a few hours
to spare, please join us in the fun and excitement of promoting Haiku
at this great event. Not only is this going to be lots of fun, but
it's a great opportunity to give something valuable to the project.
So, if you want to hang out with us at LinuxWorld, please contact
Urias McCullough via email or using the contact form at
http://www.haiku-os.org/user/12/contact - and we can discuss details.
Who knows, we may feel generous and give volunteers a free Haiku
T-shirt. ;)
