I dunno; the number of people using the standard keymap should be quite low (likely just a few hundred millions ;-)) compared to those needing to write other characters.

You can even select a different keymap during installation, and the international one should be much more helpful for most people. Since you didn't even notice until yesterday, it doesn't seem to be a big deal, does it?

I don't have a US Standard or Qwerty keymap in my list.. however, when I select Layout->104 keys (whatever its called), I get behavior as expected from BeOS.

My Tilde (~), caret (^) and even accent characters and command combos work as expected now. Using US International w/ 104-keys selected instead of the default 105 solves it...
