If someone official-ish approached them and offered to do the port in
return for some docs then they might be receptive.
I actually found that link shortly after I sent my first email in this
thread.
The main drawback I see there is it is for Flash 7, and we can more or
less get that with Gnash. Of course I'm sure the Adobe version has
less bugs and supports more of Flash, but then the port itself could
be buggy. Gnash also has some other nice features that can make the
Flash experience better.
Yes, I agree that the SDK "product" they offer is not worth it for
Haiku. I just mentioned it as an example that they do allow 3rd party
ports of the flash player. Obviously there's still a large step from
there to getting free access to a later version than the SDK they're
selling...but it's still a possibility (and Bryan's tax deductible point
is a good one).
I remember seeing the Flash 9 for linux blog before they publicly
released it, and the Adobe guy seemed to be responding to comments. I
think I'll try contacting him personally.
http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/ is the blog.
Simon
But hey if someone wants to look into that I don't think it would hurt.
