I think you have hit the nail on the head. As an example, the person
who has put the most work in the "transition" of Haiku, Inc is Jorge,
who is not a developer. I volunteered to help with some of the
financial stuff and succeeded in some respects, but then failed to
finish up a few loose ends in that regard to help bring the transition
to completion. Jorge could not handle everything himself and got busy
with his own real life commitments, as have I to some extent. Now
Urias has really stepped up to get things moving again, but I still
feel we may be spread too thin. So if any non-developers want to help
with the project, this is an area where you could really make a
difference and help the developers (including myself) focus on what we
do best: development ;)

I think we are definitely lacking volunteers, but the other issue is
trust. It is important that whoever helps out with Haiku, Inc be
someone that can be trusted to deal with donated money and with making
decisions that could affect the project. So it would help if any
volunteers were already known in the community, or maybe known by
someone who is known. A sort of circle of trust I suppose.

Regarding the "mess that is your life", I regret to inform you that in
many respects one's life always remains a little messy, in the sense
that there are things that need to get done. I certainly have a lot on
my plate and feel a bit overwhelmed, and I have been out of college
for almost 10 years. But in a sense, isn't that what life is about,
having exciting things to work on to keep us busy? I feel that once
everything is "done", you might find life pretty boring. The point is,
don't despair, just figure out what is most important to you, work on
it, get it finished, and then move on to the next thing. I think we
tend to feel overwhelmed mostly when we try to do too much at once.
