Mmh, how do you mean this? Which glue naming and why should it specify a directory? The requirement for copying the settings files over to the said directory is set by load_driver_settings and not by the firmware loading code.

, and if the firmware loading code would be smart enough to detect the right/newest matching file?

Could you eleborate the use case for detecting the newest file?
