#8111: Haiku refuses to boot. on Gateway NV55S09u -------------------------+----------------------- Reporter: Luposian | Owner: nobody Type: bug | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: - General | Version: R1/alpha3 Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: Has a Patch: 0 | Platform: x86 -------------------------+----------------------- Comment (by Luposian): I just discovered the Gateway NV55S09u uses an InsydeH2O BIOS. Yup... I've never heard of it either, but I think that is what is causing the problem. Weird thing is, it will boot Lubuntu just fine off of an 8Gb USB thumb drive, but won't boot that same OS off of a 16Gb SDHC card. Even when it's set to the first thing to boot. But Haiku won't boot at all. I sense it may be something to do with the fact Haiku is not Windows, Linux, or Unix, which are the OS's that InSydeH2O BIOS claims to support. I still have yet to try to create a CD-ROM copy of Haiku. I'll have to try that next. I have a vague feeling it won't boot either... I think the BIOS is munging things up. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/8111#comment:7> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
