 Collected the syslogs and ran a diff on them but there's almost zero
 actionable info it seems: lots of differing lines due to different RAM
 address/pointers, and the one line that says "640 x 480" instead of "800 x
 600", but no hint at ''why'' the monitor fails to sync in 640x480 mode (no
 indication of pixelclock or refresh rate or anything). Attaching syslogs
 anyway..
