 Despite dozens of tries on all three of my machines (Core i7, Core 2 Due,
 P4) I didn't see panic even one more time. I tried with and without
 tracing, and with and without the paranoid checks I introduced in r37360.
 I even implemented a bit of allocator stress testing (not checked in),
 which didn't trigger the problem either.

 So if one of you guys who can reproduce the bug more reliably could enable
 `DEBUG_SLAB_MEMORY_MANAGER_PARANOID_CHECKS` and see what happens, that
 would be helpful.
